Dr. Blake Dornstauder

Optometrist / Owner

Dr. Dornstauder was born and raised in Lloydminster, AB and graduated from the University of Alberta in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Honours Physiology. He then continued the retinal electrophysiology research from his bachelors degree at the U of A Department of Ophthalmology to focus on a Masters degree. In 2010, he was accepted into the NOVA Southeastern University College of Optometry in Ft. Lauderdale, FL while still working on his Masters thesis. Dr. Dornstauder started the Optometry program at NOVA in the Fall of 2010 while also being enrolled at the University of Alberta. During the first semester of Optometry school he wrote and successfully defended his Masters thesis, in which he created a Health Canada approved clinical trial to test the physiological effects of fish oil supplementation on the human retina. In 2014, Dr. Dornstauder graduated from NOVA Southeastern University as a Doctor of Optometry with Honors and Professional Distinction and began working as an associate at Cold Lake Eye Care under the mentorship of Dr. Ross Campbell. In 2016, Dr. Dornstauder was awarded a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometrists. In 2018, Dr. Dornstauder left Cold Lake Eye Care to explore practice opportunities across Alberta. He also joined the Optometry Examining Board of Canada (OEBC) as a test writer and is one of two doctors who creates the annual Canadian board exam for new graduates to practice optometry in Canada. Since moving back to Cold Lake, Dr. Dornstauder has poured his heart and soul into building Lakeshore Optometry, for his family and for the community. Much of the renovations inside and out were completed by Dr. Dornstauder with the help of family and friends. While always continuing to expand his knowledge of eye care, Dr. Dornstauder loves to work with his hands, learn new trades, and experience everything this beautiful city of Cold Lake has to offer.

Natalie

Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant

Natalie is a Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant (CCOA) and heads up our pretest and special testing room. She is a very talented clinical aesthetician by trade but is enjoying the change of pace in her new role. In her free time, she still dabbles with custom nail artwork and enjoys going on adventures with her husband and two children.

Ashley

Medical Office Administrator

Ashley was born into a military family, with her dad as a firefighter for the Royal Canadian Air Force. She moved all over Canada as a child, having visited every Province. Ashley has lived in Cold Lake for the past 20 years and enjoys spending all of her free time with her two children. She recently completed the Medical Office Administrator program, graduating with Honours, and is excited to apply her new skillset at the front desk of our clinic.

Divine

Lead Dispenser

Divine was born in the Philippines and immigrated to Canada in 2009. She speaks English, Cebuana, and some Tegalog. Always smiling and having a good laugh, Divine has been a natural fit since day one. In her spare time she loves to camp with her family and play volleyball and go to darts competitions with her husband.
